Birkman updated The Birkman Method questionnaire’s personal information section. These changes better reflect today's societal expectations and do not impact the Respondent’s results or reports.
Here’s what’s changed:
1. Explicit Consent
After opening the Birkman questionnaire, the Respondent must first provide their consent before proceeding to the questionnaire itself. They can choose one of three levels (FULL consent, PARTIAL consent, or choose NOT to give their consent) of explicit consent: freely and explicitly consent, I do not consent to Birkman using my personal data for research and development purposes, or I prefer not to complete the questionnaire.
The Respondent can change the language of this Explicit Consent page if needed, by clicking the Language pull-down menu at the top of the page.
Here is a screenshot of the Explicit Consent page:
If the Respondent selects “I freely and explicitly consent…”, they must complete the Personal Information and Employment History pages before starting the questionnaire. Here are screenshots of this navigation path:
If the Respondent selects “I do not consent to Birkman using my personal data for research and development purposes…”, they must complete the Personal Information page before starting the questionnaire. Here is a screenshot of this navigation path:
If the Respondent selects “I prefer not to complete the questionnaire...”, the Next button on the Explicit Consent page changes to End Session.
When the Respondent clicks End Session, a pop-up alert asks them if they want to end their session.
If they click Cancel, the pop-up alert closes and the Respondent may select a different level of Explicit Consent to proceed.
If they click OK, the questionnaire closes and the questionnaire authorization is removed from our system:
The Authorizing BirkmanDirect Manager, as well as our Birkman Support team, will receive an email letting them know this Respondent has not given their consent to take the Birkman questionnaire. Here’s what the email will say:
2. Gender
Gender choices will change:
From: Male | Female
To: Man | Woman | Non-Binary | Other | Prefer not to say
If the Respondent chooses Other, a text box will open, allowing the Respondent to type in their gender. They may also leave the text box blank. Reminder that the Gender responses are only used by our Research Department in an anonymized, aggregated form and have no impact on the Respondent’s results or reports.
If you have questions about these enhancements to the Respondent’s Birkman questionnaire experience, please contact us at support@birkman.com.
