Reframing Personality Bias at Work is a toolkit that empowers you with the resources to help mitigate employee bias in the workplace. While this 2-hour workshop does not cover the full spectrum of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), it does explore the importance of personality diversity and the criticality of acknowledging the bias we have towards different Birkman Colors.
By exploring biases around the four Birkman Colors, individuals gain awareness of biases toward other Birkman Colors and how to reframe that bias. Due to the serious and sensitive nature of this topic, more advanced facilitation skills are recommended to deliver the associated workshop. Facilitators will need to be able to navigate sensitive conversations and be comfortable applying the Birkman Colors to workplace situations.
Filled with activities and personal reflection, the goal of this toolkit is to help individuals be more productive by valuing and including all Birkman Colors in the workplace. The Reframing Personality Bias at Work includes a handbook that explores personality bias and its impact in the workplace, the different types of bias (bias against and unfair favoritism), how bias connects to Birkman’s Usual Behaviors, and how to work with employees to reframe bias towards other Birkman Colors.
This toolkit includes downloads of slides and worksheets to use in a group setting. There are sample images of resources listed below. You can find this toolkit in the Learning Paths section of the Birkman Learning System.
