The Birkman Comparative Report compares the results of two respondents’ Birkman Components. The report provides comparative results on their Usual Behavior scores, their Needs scores, and their Stress Behavior scores. It then provides key recommendations based on these comparisons.
Graphically there are several symbols used throughout the report. Below are descriptions of what these symbols represent.
= This symbol suggests that the two respondents had similar scores on this topic – they either behave similarly in Usual or Stress Behavior or they have similar needs/expectations.
≠ This symbol suggests that there are no consistent similarities or differences in the two respondents’ scores. Most times this result is due to at least one respondent having a more moderate score on that aspect of the Birkman Component. It is difficult to identify consistent similarities or differences since moderate scores can look lower or higher depending on the circumstance, situation, or person.
<> This symbol suggests that the two respondents have significantly different scores on this topic. One is likely to be on the higher side while the other is likely to be on the lower side.
! This symbol is on the key recommendations page and is simply representing the fact that these statements are suggestions for how to understand and adjust to the similarities and differences between the two respondents.
It is important to note that “cutoffs” for when a result is considered to be =, <>, or ≠ vary for each Component. This is due to the variance in scoring options for each Component.
